The painting complete .. The One Hundred complete.

One hundred paintings - One purpose!
To raise £1500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Great news now is that the 100 "Wee Ones" are now finished  The last push in getting the final pieces completed took up most of last Friday.
I was keen to get the work finished as I know from a number of potential customers that they were holding back until all the choices were published to view.
The artistic experience has been an interesting one for me as it has given me an opportunity to experiment with different styles from the quite abstract to the representational. Each painting developed its own personality as I painted it.  .
Just as a reminder this project is dedicated to the loss of a friend Henry James MacPherson Rooney aka Mac who fought cancer for many years. Resilient, loyal and a life long supporter of many charitable causes.

As an artist I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate a life through a painted journey around the coast of Britain. Here is a small portrait image of the man I painted back in 2012.

I believe that Macmillan Cancer Support do an amazing job and I am privileged to be able to make a small contribution to their work.

What does Macmillan Cancer Support provide?

One in three of us will get cancer and it’s the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you've been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you’ll want a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way.
They provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. We are Macmillan Cancer Support.

The journey is as much a journey of the imagination and spirit, as one of geography.  The 100 pieces depict the coast of Britain in its many guises, wild and stormy, the misty mornings, the still moonlit seas.  I wanted to capture many of the hidden faces of the coast rather than the picture postcard image of this diverse isle.

Earlier in the project I took a picture of 42 of the earlier works, Here it is, I think quite something.

Each work is available at the cost of £50 with a donation of £15 per piece going to Macmillan.

So how can you buy one of the Wee Ones? Remember there will only be a relatively small number painted. (Limited to only 100 original works) Each one is painted in oil on a small 6 x 6 inch canvas board.  The wee one will be supplied unframed. I can of course arrange framing and delivery if necessary at cost price.

Here is an idea of the typical framing used when requested.

So what are they saying about the artist and the Painted Coast?
Ian Rawnsley is an artist of raw and real talent who is always happy to share his gifts and experience with others  Alison Auldjo, Union Gallery. Edinburgh.

We are very happy to endorse Ian's painted journey for Macmillan that mirrors our own Princess Matilda adventures around the coast of Britain.
Shane and Timothy Spall

I invited Ian to exhibit in Edinburgh's Macmillan Cancer Support group exhibition 'Art of Nature' purely on the basis of his dramatic landscape paintings. Little did I know that Macmillan would also be getting a power house of fund raising ideas, which he put into practice in record time. Ian's unique combination of skills has worked really well for us and I hope you will join his growing list of supporters by buying a 'Wee One' - I did! Sheila Murray - Curator 'Art of Nature' exhibition

This is the coast we feel yet seldom see ... a moving, beautiful circumnavigation – Nicholas Crane - BBC Coast series.
